The "Groupement Européen de Périnéologie" (GEP) was born the 12th november 1996. This french non-profit organization has organized 3 annual meetings
	The first one was in Le Mans (France) the 21st june 1997. The title of this first meeting was: " Bases anatomo-physiologiques de la Périnéologie: applications pratiques " ( Anatomo-physiological basis of Perineology: pratical use ).
	The second was in Spa (Belgium) the 20th june 1998. The title was: " La Périnéologie...enfin! " ( Perineology...at last ! ).
	The third was in La Rochelle the 25 september 1999. The title of the meeting was: " La Périnéologie...comprendre un équilibre et le preserver " ( To understand an equilibrium and to preserve it...Perineology ).
	During this last meeting Professor Ahmed Shafik (Cairo, Egypt) has become our Honorary President. The first book of Perineology has been published in june 1998. Edited by J. Beco M.D., J.Mouchel M.D., G. Nelissen (D.O.). Title: " La Périnéologie...comprendre un équilibre et le préserver ". A second edition has been published in september 1999. Composed and printed by Odyssée 1372, Verviers, Belgium. Recently, the concept of Perineology has been presented during the XVI FIGO 2000 World Congress, the 7 september in Washington, USA. Title of the lecture: " Perineology: primum non nocere; a new holistic approach of pelvic floor dysfunctions ".
